David Dellucci hit 2 doubles and had 5 RBI as the Detroit Tigers ballclub
embarrassed the New York (AL) Yankees by the count of 19 to 2.
 
Dellucci had a good day at the plate.  He doubled with all three runners
coming home in the 1st inning and doubled plating two runs in the 3rd inning.
Detroit kept the scorekeepers busy in the 1st inning with 5 runs on 5 hits
and the 3rd inning when they had 5 runs on 6 hits.  Overall Detroit out-hit
New York (AL) 23 to 4.  
 
The win was credited to Scott Kazmir(5-9) who went 6 innings allowing 2 runs.
Bronson Arroyo(4-7) was the losing pitcher.  He was knocked around,
surrendering 10 runs in 2 and 1/3 innings.  
 
With this win, Detroit has a 41-53 record.  They have been 6-4 lately.  With
the loss New York (AL) now has a record of 42-46.

Brandon Webb delivered 7 and two third solid innings as the sizzling Riverton
Raptors defeated the Las Vegas Godfathers 1 to 0 at Ameriquest
Field.
 
Webb(13-5) put on a good performance.  He didn't give up much, just 4 hits and
no walks in 7 and 2/3 innings.  Las Vegas had a chance in the 9th but they
came up short.  
 
Webb was helped out by Takashi Saito who recorded his 25th save.  Matt
Garza(4-7) suffered the loss.  He gave up 5 hits and 7 walks in 8 innings.
 
For Riverton, the victory kept their winning streak on the march.

In a two run game the seemingly unstoppable Riverton Raptors got by the Las
Vegas Godfathers by the score of 5 to 3.
 
Riverton came through with the game-winning runs in the 8th inning as they
scored 4 runs on 5 base hits.  The big moment was provided by Alexei Ramirez
who quieted the crowd when he lifted one out of the park for a two run home
run (his 12th of the season).  Las Vegas was retired without difficulty in
the bottom of the 9th.  
 
The victory was credited to Adam Eaton(2-1) who went 7 and 2/3 innings,
allowing 3 runs. Takashi Saito earned the save, his 24th.  John Danks(11-4)
suffered the loss.  
 
Riverton added another win to their now very impressive winning streak.

Rick Ankiel slammed 2 homeruns as the blistering-hot Riverton Raptors topped
the Las Vegas Godfathers by a score of 11 to 8 at Ameriquest Field.
 
Ankiel had a big day with his bat.  He smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' in the
5th inning, delivered a base-hit in the 6th inning and cracked a solo homerun
(his 20th of the season) in the 8th inning.  Both teams finished the game
with 14 hits.  
 
Will Ohman(8-0) went 4 and 2/3 innings allowing 1 run for the victory. Ohman
got help from Takashi Saito who earned his 23rd save.  Josh Beckett(4-10) was
charged with the loss.  He allowed 3 homeruns in 4 and 2/3 innings of work.

First baseman Albert Pujols left the yard as the sizzling Riverton Raptors
defeated the floundering Toledo Mud Hens in 11 innings by a score of 3 to 2
at Metrodome.
 
Both teams were tied at 2 runs apiece after nine innings. Riverton won it in
the 11th inning.  After an out was recorded, Torii Hunter laced a single.
Scott Rolen came next and he stroked a base-hit.  Rolen took second on the
throw.  Victor Martinez then hit a deep fly.  Alexei Ramirez stepped in and
he drew a walk.  Riverton had 11 hits for the game and Toledo had 8.  
 
The win was credited to Taylor Buchholz(3-1) who went 1 and 2/3 innings
allowing no runs. Takashi Saito gained credit for his 22nd save.  Jesus
Colome(2-1) was the loser in relief.  
 
For Riverton, the victory kept their winning streak on the march.

Left fielder Rick Ankiel smacked 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI at Metrodome as the
red-hot Riverton Raptors belted the ice-cold Toledo Mud Hens by the count of
15 to 4.
 
Ankiel was really in 'the zone'.  He lifted one out of the park for a two run
home run in the 1st inning, lofted a three-run 'big-fly' (his 18th of the
season) in the 6th inning and laced a single in the 7th inning.  Riverton
provided plenty of action in the 4th inning with 4 runs, the 6th inning which
saw them plate 4 runs on 3 hits and the 7th inning when they had 4 runs on 5
hits.  Riverton out-hit Toledo for the game, 17 hits to 9.  
 
Ryan Dempster(12-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 7 innings and
allowing 2 runs. Brian Burres(0-1) was the loser.  He had trouble throwing
strikes and issued 14 walks in 9 innings.  
 
For Riverton, the victory kept their winning streak on the march.

Fernando Tatis blasted 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI at Metrodome as the seemingly
unstoppable Riverton Raptors beat the ice-cold Toledo Mud Hens 14 to
5.
 
Tatis provided the offensive punch.  He lined a single in the 2nd inning,
smashed a solo-shot out of the park in the 7th inning and rifled a three-run
blast (his 7th of the season) in the 8th inning.  Riverton had 15 hits for
the game and Toledo had 8.  
 
The victory was credited to Brandon Webb(12-5) who went 6 innings, allowing 4
runs. Ian Snell(0-1) was tagged with the loss.  He was touched for 3 homeruns
in his 9 innings of work.  
 
With the win, Riverton continues their noteworthy winning streak. Brandt
Ricker was very irritated after the contest.  'Just our luck to run into a
team that's playing like a juggernaut right now.  I have to congratulate
Thomas Fischer on his team's recent performance.  A very impressive run.'

39,776 fans were treated to a fine game at Metrodome as only one run separated
the combatants at game's end.  The Riverton Raptors won by the slimmest of
margins, 4 to 3.
 
Riverton took the lead for keeps in the top of the 2nd inning scoring one
runner utilizing 2 base hits.  Albert Pujols drew a walk.  Fernando Tatis
stepped up to the plate and he slapped a single.  Torii Hunter struck out,
unable to help the rally.  Scott Rolen was up next and he smacked a single.
Alexei Ramirez came to the plate and grounded into a double play.  Toledo
threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.  
 
Chris Sampson(5-4) got credit for the victory, pitching 7 and 1/3 innings and
allowing 2 runs. Sampson was helped out by Takashi Saito who recorded his
19th save.  Jesse Litsch(4-8) ended up with the loss.  
 
Thomas Fischer was beaming after the game, 'Not only were we making good
contact, but a lot of balls we hit seemed to have 'eyes'! I just love winning
these tight ones! It was just our evening - no doubt about it!'

Brandon Webb came through with a solid 8 and one third innings at Metrodome as
the Riverton Raptors beat the slumping Toledo Mud Hens by the count of 6 to
1.
 
Riverton came up with 5 runs in the top of the 5th inning with the help of 4
hits.  The critical plate appearance was by Gabe Kapler who helped quiet the
crowd when he cracked a two-run shot (his 4th of the season).  Riverton
out-hit Toledo for the game, 9 hits to 5.  
 
Webb(10-5) was the winner allowing 1 run in 8 and 1/3 innings. Scott
Olsen(4-7) was given the loss.  He was not very effective, surrendering 5
runs in 4 and 1/3 innings.

One run was the difference at Metrodome as the Riverton Raptors defeated the
reeling Toledo Mud Hens 3 to 2.
 
Nick Blackburn(8-5) pitched well for Riverton in their victory.  He went 8
innings allowing 7 hits and 2 walks.  Toledo was set down quietly in the
bottom of the 9th.  
 
Takashi Saito was credited with his 18th save.  Edwin Jackson(3-9) was charged
with the loss.  He surrendered 3 runs and 8 hits in 6 and 2/3 innings.

Nick Blackburn took a no-hitter into the 6th inning as the Riverton Raptors
outscored the Homestead Grays 3 to 1.
 
Blackburn(7-5) had a strong outing. He didn't allow much, just 3 hits and no
walks in 7 innings.  The right-handed Blackburn lost his chance for a
no-hitter when Kelly Johnson singled with one out in the 6th inning.  For the
game Riverton out-hit Homestead 7 to 3.  
 
Takashi Saito was credited with his 17th save.  Ervin Santana(4-6) was charged
with the loss.  This win by Riverton continues their recent hot streak.  In
their last ten games, they have a record of 8-2.  For the season, they are a
division leading 48-27.  With the loss, the Homestead ballclub's record is
36-36.

Ryan Dempster allowed Thomas Fischer to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete
game as the Riverton Raptors outscored the Homestead Grays 8 to 4.
 
Riverton jumped on top of Homestead in the 6th inning when they scored 3 runs
on 4 hits.  The crucial at-bat was provided by Scott Rolen who silenced the
crowd when he doubled scoring two baserunners.  Although they lost, Homestead
did out-hit Riverton 10 to 7.  
 
The victory was credited to Dempster(11-1) who went the distance, allowing 4
runs. The loss was charged to Tim Lincecum(7-7).  He was knocked around
pretty good, giving up 8 runs in 6 innings.

crowd when he cleared the fences for a two-run home run (his 6th of the
season).  Riverton had 13 hits overall, while Homestead had 8.

The Tampa Bay Bandits edged the Riverton Raptors in 12 innings at SAFECO Field
by the score of 3 to 2.
 
The score was knotted at 2 after nine innings. Tampa Bay came out on top in
the 12th inning.  Luke Scott drew a walk.  After an out was recorded, Akinori
Iwamura came to the plate and doubled making Tampa Bay the winners and
sending the 47,620 fans home happy.  Tampa Bay had 10 hits for the night
while Riverton had 6.  
 
Brian Fuentes(3-1) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2 innings. Brad
Ziegler(3-3) suffered the loss in relief.  He gave up 1 hit and 1 walk in 2/3
of an inning.

Left fielder Rick Ankiel went yard and had 2 RBI as the Riverton Raptors
topped the Watersedge Wallbangers by a score of 9 to 5 at US Cellular
Field.
 
Riverton came up with 6 runs in the 7th inning when they had 7 base hits.  The
big moment was provided by Scott Rolen who deflated the spirits of the home
town crowd when he belted a three-run homer (his 6th of the season).
Riverton had 15 hits overall, while Watersedge had 10.  
 
Taylor Buchholz(2-1) allowed no runs in 3 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Matt Thornton(5-4) suffered the loss in relief.  He served up 3
gopher balls in 1/3 of an inning.

In a dramatic ending at US Cellular Field the Watersedge Wallbangers won in
their last at-bat beating the Riverton Raptors by the count of 5 to 4.
 
The game was won by Watersedge with a run in the bottom of the 9th inning.
After an out was recorded, Jason Kendall drew a walk.  After another out,
Jason Bay stepped in and he doubled making Watersedge the winners and sending
the 38,845 fans home happy.  Watersedge had 11 hits for the game and Riverton
had 8.  
 
The win was credited to Matt Thornton(5-3) who went 2 innings allowing no
runs. Brad Ziegler(3-2) was hit with the loss in relief.  He gave up 1 hit
and 2 walks in 2 and 2/3 innings.  
 
For Watersedge the victory was a welcome one, indeed.  They had been
struggling in their last ten games with a disappointing 2-8 record.  Riverton
has a record of 40-25 after the loss.

Rick Ankiel cracked a homer and Chris Sampson carried a no-hitter into the 6th
inning as the Riverton Raptors topped the dreadful Erie County Sea Wolves by
a score of 10 to 1 at McAfee Coliseum.
 
Sampson(3-4) came through with a virtuoso performance against the Erie County
hitters.  He didn't give up much, just 3 hits and no walks in 8 and 2/3
innings lowering his ERA to 3.36.  The right-handed Sampson had his no-hit
bid broken up by Adam Lind who singled with two outs in the 6th inning.
Riverton out-hit Erie County for the game, 14 hits to 4.  
 
Glen Perkins(1-1) took the loss.  He was unable to control the Riverton
offense and allowed 10 hits and 2 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.

Gabe Kapler had 2 base hits as the Riverton Raptors defeated the Erie County
Sea Wolves in 13 innings by the score of 2 to 1 at McAfee Coliseum.
 
The score was knotted at 1 after nine innings.  Riverton won it in the 13th
inning.  Scott Rolen banged out a single.  Rick Ankiel was next and he drew a
walk.  Henry Blanco then laid down a sacrifice bunt.  Derek Jeter was up next
and he hit a sacrifice fly.  Riverton had only 5 hits for the afternoon.
 
Takashi Saito(1-1) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1 and 1/3
innings. Tyler Yates(0-3) absorbed the loss in relief.  With this win,
Riverton has a 39-23 record.  They have been 6-4 lately.  Jeff Shaver was
unhappy with his club's recent performance.  'We can't keep losing games' he
said.  'It gets to be embarrassing after a while.'

The Riverton Raptors nipped the Erie County Sea Wolves 6 to 5 at McAfee
Coliseum in a hard fought contest.
 
Riverton scored the deciding run in the top of the 9th inning.  Derek Jeter
lashed a single.  J.D. Drew was next and he grounded into a double play.
Albert Pujols then doubled.  Fernando Tatis came up and he stroked a one-base
hit.  Tatis took second on the throw.  Gabe Kapler came to the plate and was
walked intentionally.  Riverton managed 12 hits in their victory.  
 
The win went to Will Ohman(7-0) who allowed no runs in 1 and 1/3 innings.
Ohman got help from Takashi Saito who was credited with his 15th save.  Tyler
Yates(0-2) was hit with the loss in relief.  He pitched 1 inning giving up 3
hits and 1 walk.

winless drought and defeated the Riverton Raptors 3 to 2.

Riverton threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.  
 
Darren Oliver(3-2) went 1 and 1/3 innings allowing no runs for the victory.
Ryan Madson gained credit for his 9th save.  Brandon Webb(8-4) took the loss.
 
Rich McCoy was just happy to get a win, 'We've had such a bad streak of games
-- boy, it's great to get the monkey off our back.  Now maybe we can relax a
little and play the kind of baseball of which we are capable.'

Right fielder J.D. Drew had 4 hits and 4 RBI as the Riverton Raptors defeated
the Albany Stallions 14 to 7 at Chase Field.
 
Drew really lit it up for Riverton.  The Albany fans let him have it for what
he did to their boys.  He tripled scoring a run in the 1st inning, doubled in
the 3rd inning, doubled which scored a run in the 5th inning and doubled
plating two runs in the 8th inning.  Albany was not lacking for run support
as they scored in 5 separate innings, yet victory eluded them as they seemed
to forget that pitching is also needed to win ballgames.  
 
Chris Sampson(2-4) went 5 and 1/3 innings allowing 3 runs for the win. Hiroki
Kuroda(2-3) suffered the loss.  He allowed Riverton 5 runs in 4 and 1/3
innings of work.  
 
'It's just about getting in a good hitting position and just going out there
and being prepared,' Drew said. 'You try to hit in your own capacity and not
do too much. I just try to have a good approach, day after day, game by game,
and pitch by pitch.'

Rich Harden whiffed 11 batters as the Roeland Park Royals defeated the
Riverton Raptors by the score of 2 to 0 at RFK STADIUM.
 
Harden(5-2) dominated Riverton hitters.  He allowed just 1 hit and 5 walks in
8 and 2/3 innings reducing his ERA from 2.37 to 2.06.  Roeland Park banged
out 8 hits on the night.  
 
Carlos Marmol recorded the save, his 10th.  Nick Blackburn(5-4) took the loss.
'Everything felt great' Harden said. 'I had a good fastball, I felt I could
throw it by everybody tonight.'

The Riverton Raptors registered 5 runs in the 8th inning and cruised to a 9 to
3 victory over the Roeland Park Royals at RFK STADIUM.
 
In the top of the 5th inning Riverton went on top for good as they scored 3
runs on 4 base hits.  The crucial at-bat was provided by Derek Jeter who
quieted the crowd when he doubled bringing in two baserunners.  Riverton
ended up with 13 hits for the game while Roeland Park had 7.  
 
Ryan Dempster(9-1) was the winner allowing 2 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings. Brad
Ziegler earned the save, his 3rd.  Chad Gaudin(1-6) suffered the loss.  He
pitched 7 innings giving up 8 hits and 4 walks.
 
With this win, Riverton has a 34-21 record.  They have been 7-3 lately.  With
the loss, Roeland Park has a record of 4-6 lately, 28-36 overall.

Matt Holliday went yard at Metrodome where the Toledo Mud Hens beat the
Riverton Raptors in 11 innings by the score of 5 to 4.
 
Both teams were tied at 4 runs apiece after nine innings.  Toledo won it in
the 11th inning.  After an out was recorded, Dioner Navarro drew a walk.
Lastings Milledge came next and he laced a single.  Corey Hart then ripped a
base-knock making Toledo the winners and sending the 48,998 fans home happy.
Toledo had 10 hits for the afternoon.  
 
Manny Parra(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 5 and 2/3 innings and
allowing 1 run. Brad Ziegler(3-1) absorbed the loss in relief.

Hens 2 to 1 at Metrodome.
 
The game was decided in the 9th inning.  After two were out Yorvit Torrealba
drew a walk.  Derek Jeter next to the plate and he delivered a base-hit.
Ankiel then ripped a base-knock.  Ankiel took second on the throw.  J.D. Drew
was up next and he drew a walk to load the bases.  Riverton totaled 7 hits on
the night.  
 
Will Ohman(5-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 inning and allowing no
runs. Takashi Saito earned his 14th save.  Edwin Jackson(3-6) was the loser.

Nick Blackburn allowed Thomas Fischer to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete
game and J.D. Drew jacked one out of the ballyard and had 4 RBI at Miller
Park as the Riverton Raptors, running on all cylinders, ripped the Montrose
Millers by a large 17 to 3 margin.
 
Drew had a big day with his bat.  He delivered a base-hit in the 6th inning,
delivered a one-base hit in the 8th inning and belted a three-run homer (his
8th of the season) in the 9th inning.  Riverton kept the scorekeepers busy in
the 6th inning with 9 runs on 6 hits and the 9th inning which saw them plate
6 runs on 5 hits.  Riverton totaled 16 hits on the night.  
 
Blackburn(5-3) finished the game allowing 3 runs in the victory. Jered
Weaver*(2-3) was tagged with the loss.  Although losing the contest, he

Designated hitter Raul Ibanez had 4 hits and 4 RBI as the Montrose Millers
outscored the Riverton Raptors 5 to 4.
 
Dan Wheeler(1-4) got the win with a steady relief outing.  He went 1 and 2/3
innings allowing 1 hit and 1 walk lowering his ERA to 2.88.  Montrose totaled
7 hits on the night.  
 
Damaso Marte got the save, his 2nd.  Taylor Buchholz(1-1) was the losing
pitcher in relief.  He allowed 1 run and 1 hit in 2 innings.
