Derek Jeter hit one over the fence at Busch Stadium as the Riverton Raptors
beat the Bridge City River Bats by the count of 5 to 3.
Riverton promptly took the lead in their half of the first when they scored 3
runs on 3 hits. Riverton managed 10 hits in their victory.
Bronson Arroyo(3-2) allowed 3 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Brad Ziegler was credited with his 1st save. The loss was charged
to Clayton Kershaw(3-2). He allowed 8 hits and 3 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.
'I had a little blister on my index finger before the game, but I thought it
was nothing.' Arroyo said. 'I was lucky I got a win because I couldn't put
the ball where I wanted it.'

Jake Peavy took a no-hitter into the 7th inning at Busch Stadium as the Bridge
City River Bats came back dramatically to top the Riverton Raptors by the
score of 3 to 1.
Bridge City erupted with the game winning runs in the 9th inning scoring 3
runs using 2 hits. Matt Diaz led off and started the attack as he was hit by
a pitch. Shin-Soo Choo was next to the plate, but was promptly struck out.
One out later, Johnny Damon came up and he hit a single. Henry Blanco
followed and he lofted a three-run bomb. The game was a scoreless duel until
the 7th inning.
The winning pitcher was Peavy(2-0) who allowed 1 run in 8 innings. The
right-handed Peavy lost his no-hit bid when Albert Pujols doubled with one
out in the 7th inning. Peavy was helped out by Mariano Rivera who recorded
his 4th save. Takashi Saito(0-1) absorbed the loss in relief. His ERA
increased from 1.42 to 3.68 as he allowed 2 runs in 1 inning.
Mark Baron was very happy after the game, 'It's great to come back and win it

Chris Carpenter pitched 8 and two third strong innings as the Bridge City
River Bats topped the Riverton Raptors by a score of 1 to 0 at PNC
Park.
Bridge City scored the only run of the game in the 2nd inning. After an out
was recorded, Johnny Damon doubled. Ryan Church next to the plate and he
ripped a base-knock. David Wright followed, but he was set down on strikes.
That was all the offense they were to need. Riverton had a chance in the 9th
but they came up short.
The win went to Carpenter(3-0) who allowed no runs in 8 and 2/3 innings.
Mariano Rivera earned the save, his 3rd. Bronson Arroyo(2-2) was tagged with
the loss.
'It was a tough one to lose' said Thomas Fischer 'We'll get them next time
out.'

Bridge City fell behind quickly as the Riverton offense came through in the
first inning scoring 3 runs using 2 hits. After an out was recorded, J.D.

Scott Rolen lofted one into the 'cheap seats' and had 2 RBI at Progressive
Field where the Riverton Raptors beat the Houston Heat in 22 innings 8 to
7.
Both teams were tied at 7 runs apiece after nine innings. Riverton was
victorious in the 22nd inning. After an out was recorded, Torii Hunter
stroked a single. J.D. Drew dug into the batters box next, but he struck
out. Rolen then drew a walk. George Sherrill then uncorked a wild pitch.
Miguel Montero stepped into the box and was walked intentionally to load the
bases. Akinori Iwamura kept the rally going and lined a one-base hit.
Riverton lit up the scoreboard in the 1st inning when they had 3 runs on 4

2010 Draft - Top 10 Picks

After getting off to a very shaky start, the 2010 draft has smoothed out and gone extremely well exceeding expectations for keeping the scheduled picks. The first day of the draft, Saturday, March 6, saw a slow start due to inexperience with the Strat Draft website and setting up auto picks. After getting the draft straightened out on Saturday, Sunday saw a large amount of picks getting the league into the fourth round by Monday morning. Tuesday was a little on the slow side but by Wednesday morning the draft moved into the 6th round early in the morning.
Since the first overall pick was skipped due to various circumstances, the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs drafted Matt Wieters with the second pick, first overall in actuality. Delaware Valley drafted Gordon Beckham with the third pick, second overall. Bellingham and Montpelier drafted Elvus Andrus and Tommy Hanson respectively, rounding out the top five picks. Later in the day, Cleveland selected Chris Coghlan with a forced draft pick by the commissioner.
Going sixth in the draft was Casey McGehee being drafted by the Bowling Green Red Barons. Albany then followed with Garret Jones, the young power hitting firstbaseman and outfielder from Pittsburgh. With the 8th pick in the 2010 draft, the Richmond Mudcats selected closer Andrew Bailey from Oakland. The Durham Conquistadors followed up with selecting Nolan Reimhold, the young power hitting outfielder from Baltimore.
Perhaps one of the biggest surprises of the draft so far has been the sliding of Detroit youngster Rick Porcello all the way to the 10th pick overall. The Gary Steelers were very excited to get the young hard thrower and felt lucky that Porcello fell as far as he did in the draft. Porcello went in the top five in other league drafts but fell to #10 in the 2010 Schwartz League Draft.

Left fielder Milton Bradley hit one over the fence and had 3 RBI as the Bridge
City River Bats beat the Riverton Raptors by a score of 4 to 3.
Bridge City brought 3 runs across the plate in the bottom of the 6th inning.
The key offensive moment was provided by Bradley who made the crowd happy
when he lofted a three-run 'big-fly' (his 4th of the season). Riverton had a
chance in the 9th but they came up short.
The win went to Ben Sheets(3-1) who allowed 3 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings.
Sheets was helped out by Huston Street who recorded his 1st save. Ryan
Dempster(4-2) was hit with the loss.
Thomas Fischer was subdued after the ballgame, 'That one really hurts. If our
guys had simply played more fundamentally sound, we could have won that one.
That is what really ticks me off!'

Catcher Geovany Soto blasted a homerun and had 2 RBI as the Bridge City River
Bats defeated the Riverton Raptors in 10 innings by a score of 7 to 6 at
Wrigley Field.
The game was deadlocked at 5 after nine full innings. Bridge City was
victorious in the 10th inning. Chase Utley got things going when he doubled.
David Wright came next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. David Ortiz then
was walked intentionally. Soto stepped in and he hit a single. Michael
Young stepped into the box and lined a base-hit. For the game Bridge City
out-hit Riverton 14 to 11.
Mariano Rivera(2-0) got the win allowing 3 runs in 1 and 2/3 innings. Takashi
Saito(0-1) was the loser in relief. He pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up 3
hits and 1 walk.
