Nick Blackburn allowed Thomas Fischer to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete
game and J.D. Drew jacked one out of the ballyard and had 4 RBI at Miller
Park as the Riverton Raptors, running on all cylinders, ripped the Montrose
Millers by a large 17 to 3 margin.
Drew had a big day with his bat. He delivered a base-hit in the 6th inning,
delivered a one-base hit in the 8th inning and belted a three-run homer (his
8th of the season) in the 9th inning. Riverton kept the scorekeepers busy in
the 6th inning with 9 runs on 6 hits and the 9th inning which saw them plate
6 runs on 5 hits. Riverton totaled 16 hits on the night.
Blackburn(5-3) finished the game allowing 3 runs in the victory. Jered
Weaver*(2-3) was tagged with the loss. Although losing the contest, he
whiffed 8 batters in 5 innings.

First baseman Albert Pujols slammed 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI and Brandon Webb
dominated striking out 10 Montrose batters at Miller Park as the Riverton
Raptors embarrassed the Montrose Millers by the lopsided score of 12 to
2.
Pujols had a great evening at the plate. He smashed a two-run homer in the
1st inning and lofted a three-run bomb (his 17th of the season) in the 4th
inning. Riverton finished with 13 hits in the victory.
Webb(8-3), allowing 2 runs for the game, picked up the victory. Randy
Wolf(4-5) took the loss. He was unable to control the Riverton offense and
allowed 9 hits and 2 walks in 3 and 2/3 innings.
Webb didn't realize how many strikeouts he was racking up. When told he had
10 he was obviously surprised, 'No kidding? Man, I knew that I had a decent
total, but I didn't think I had K'd that many. Say, that's pretty good,
isn't it?'

The Milwaukee Rams edged the Erie County Sea Wolves in 11 innings at Shea
Stadium by the score of 2 to 1.
Both teams were tied at 1 runs apiece after nine innings. Milwaukee was
victorious in the 11th inning. Nate McLouth drew a walk. Zach Miner then
let loose a wild pitch. Adam Laroche was the next batter, but he struck out.
Jeremy Hermida was up next and he drew a walk. Kevin Kouzmanoff came to the
plate and delivered a base-hit giving Milwaukee the win and sending the home
town fans into a frenzy. Milwaukee and Erie County each finished the
afternoon with 6 hits.
Scot Shields(2-1) went 1/3 of an inning allowing no runs for the win.
Miner(2-1) was hit with the loss in relief. He pitched 1/3 of an inning
allowing 1 hit and 2 walks.

Alfredo Amezaga hit 2 doubles and had 3 RBI as the Erie County Sea Wolves
topped the Hillsboro Raiders by a score of 10 to 9 at Jacobs Field.
Erie County had the game winning rally in the top of the 8th inning scoring 2
runs on 2 hits. After an out was recorded, Orlando Cabrera kicked off the
action when he delivered a one-base hit. Cabrera was running on the next
pitch and he stole second. Erie County continued their aggressive style with
another stolen base. Jorge Cantu was up next and he was hit by a pitch.
Erie County got their 2nd stolen base of the inning. Adam Kennedy added to
the rally and hit a sacrifice fly. Ramon Vazquez was next and he was walked
intentionally. Endy Chavez then doubled. A.J. Pierzynski stepped in and he
was walked intentionally to load the bases. Hillsboro threatened in the 9th
but Erie County was able to put down the rally.
Scott Linebrink(1-0) got the win allowing 5 runs in 2 innings. Linebrink got
help from Joe Smith who earned his 1st save. Frank Francisco(1-2) was tagged
with the loss in relief.
'We lose our concentration for one pitch, and we lose the game.' Bill Levinson
said after the game. 'Maybe now these guys will listen when I say they have
to concentrate on EVERY pitch.'

Catcher Kelly Shoppach went yard and had 2 RBI at Jacobs Field as the
Hillsboro Raiders beat the Erie County Sea Wolves by the count of 9 to
3.
Hillsboro set the tone of the game in the first inning scoring 2 runs. After
an out was recorded, Placido Polanco started the attack as he drew a walk.
After another out, Shoppach came up and he blasted a two-run home run (his
2nd of the season). Hillsboro ended up with 12 hits for the game while Erie
County had 9.
The victory went to Aaron Cook(2-5) who went 7 innings, allowing 1 run. Nate
Robertson(0-4) was charged with the loss. He was knocked around pretty good,
giving up 8 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings.
The win by Hillsboro is a very welcome one as they have been struggling in
recent days. Their record now stands at 12-19 - only 1-9 in their last ten
games. Jeff Shaver was unhappy with his club's recent performance. 'We
can't keep losing games' he said. 'It gets to be embarrassing after a
while.'

Torii Hunter hit 2 doubles at Yankee Stadium as the seemingly unstoppable
Riverton Raptors came back dramatically to top the Pennsylvania ballclub by
the score of 5 to 3.
Riverton scored the decisive runs in a big top of the 9th inning as they
scored 4 runs on 3 base hits. The highlight belonged to Alexei Ramirez who
deflated the spirits of the home town crowd when he bombed a two-run dinger
(his 4th of the season). The teams had been locked in a scoreless duel until
the 6th inning.
Will Ohman(3-0) got the win allowing 1 run in 2/3 of an inning. Ohman got
relief help from Takashi Saito who gained credit for his 10th save. Ubaldo
Jimenez(2-2) took the loss.
Jimenez was feeling apologetic in the locker room, 'I sure let that one get
away. What a miserable feeling to let the guys down; and our fans. One
minute things are looking great, then. BOOM, it's over with! I just hope I
get a chance to redeem myself real soon!'

Raptors defeated the 10,000 Lakes Lakers by a score of 6 to 3 at Camden
Yards.
Dempster(7-0) was very good in the win. He allowed only 2 hits and 3 walks in
9 innings. The right-handed Dempster had his no-hit bid broken up by Jose
Reyes who doubled with two outs in the 6th inning. Riverton totaled 13 hits
on the night.
