Jayson Werth smacked 3 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the Vermont Lake Monsters
ballclub embarrassed the Riverton Raptors by the count of 17 to 4.
Werth had a great evening at the plate. He had the crowd cheering his every
move. He delivered a solo blast in the 1st inning, smashed a two-run homer
in the 4th inning, doubled in the 6th inning and cracked a two-run shot (his
18th of the season) in the 7th inning. Vermont kept the scorekeepers busy in
the 4th inning with 4 runs on 4 hits and the 6th inning with 5 runs on 5
hits. The Vermont offense man-handled the Riverton pitching staff as they
scored in 7 of the 9 innings.
Roy Halladay(13-10) went 8 and 2/3 innings allowing 4 runs for the victory.
Andy Pettitte(5-7) absorbed the loss. He allowed 3 homeruns in 4 and 1/3
innings of work.
