Derek Jeter had 4 hits as the mighty Riverton Raptors topped the Gary Steelers
by a score of 11 to 5 at Turner Field.
Jeter had a good evening at the plate. He launched a Grand Slam homerun (his
6th of the season) in the 2nd inning, stroked a one-base hit in the 4th
inning, stroked a single in the 5th inning and laced a base-hit in the 9th
inning. The Riverton offense man-handled the Gary pitching staff as they
scored in 7 of the 9 innings.
The winning pitcher was Nick Blackburn(12-6) who allowed 4 runs in 7 and 2/3
innings. Zach Duke(0-1) ended up with the loss. He allowed a few too many
baserunners giving up 8 hits and 3 walks in 3 and 2/3 innings.
